Thanks - it is the childcare people who really deserve the praise. What a thankless task, endless abuse and ignorant comments, hostility on a daily basis from the people you are trying to help, political interference, constant changes of policy, you name it. I honestly do not know how or why people would do the job. For us in adult care it isnt half so bad, though you are only as good as the services you can offer, which these days isn't always that good.

I built a system in my last contract that was used by social workers (both adult and child protection) and others.
Massive respect for the work you do.

That's nice to know - thanks SW your comments are much appreciatedOriginally posted by socialworker View PostThanks Lisa. By the way I signed up to Contractor Umbrella through looking at a number of umbrella's websites and no regrets at all. I was attracted by the "no such thing as a free lunch" approach.
Iv'e just come up against the old dilemma "shall I accept an extension even though Im not keen on the work or turn it down and risk time out of work". However I won't be starting a new thread about it, you may be glad to hear.

It is just one of those decisions you have to make for yourself, because only you kow the variables i.e. how much money to you have in reserve, etc.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostWhy not? If you want a serious response try the professional forums. For abuse try general.

WelcomeOriginally posted by socialworker View PostThanks SueEllen. I am considering it, though it seems a bit like poking a stick into an ants nest. People should not assume we are all left wing though. I see a lot of irresponsibility and I can get quite judgemental about it, don't you worry.
Nothing wrong with being left wing - don't assume we're all not!
