OP - this may explain things if your umbrella company previously operated scale rate subsistence payments (from HMRC) Scale rate payments and the Advisory Benchmark Scale rates can only be used for expenses made to or provided for any employees by the employer and where agreed as part of a Dispensaton: they cannot be used by an employer to arrive at a sum on which tax and NIC's "relief" is given each pay day where the expenses are incurred by the employee and not reimbursed by the employer"

I wonder whether this has something to do with the revocation of scale rate expenses which happened recently? Difficult to know with so little info but it would make senseOriginally posted by MatttyC View PostThanks for your replies, it seems that the expenses that they allow has changed which has now affected my pay?

Welcome!Originally posted by MatttyC View PostThanks for your replies, it seems that the expenses that they allow has changed which has now affected my pay?
Recently, umbrella's have been tightening up on their expenses policy. If this is your first assignment it may be to do with that. If you expect it to be your only assignment with this Umbrella, then technically you are not at a temporary workplace and therefore no expenses would be allowable.
Or maybe, they have had changes made to their dispensation that HMRC grant them. Hard to know without them explaining it properly. I would ask what expenses they are now restricting. After all, every one allowed is saving you taxes, and people do make mistakes...
If you find out what it is, please do share it with us.

Yes, exactly and as the OP said that the net has reduced from previous payslips I am inclined to think that it's something elseOriginally posted by Sally@InTouch View PostTrue Lisa. The initial idea for introducing it was to cover just pay periods to retain sufficient to cover a 4 weeks claim after 12 qualifying weeks (and correct me if I'm wrong as I'm out of brolly now) and it would have started from the first pay slip.
