To answer your question - the insurances that we have are pretty standard throughout the industry as those are the levels that are demanded by agencies/end clients. The only other sort of insurances you would have to consider (other than for you car as SueEllen mentioned) would be those that are required for specific industries e.g. most umbrella company's PI insurance won't cover roles in medical testing for instance as there is a risk of a class action suit.

    Oh dear.

We are telling you to ask Lisa of Contractor Umbrella because she is a good person and is patient enough to answer most of the daft questions you want to ask her. When I started out I was going to use an umbrella company and asked Lisa a couple of daft questions, I then did more research and started my own limited.

BTW The only other insurance I can think of my head you need is business insurance on your car as you don't have a permanent work place but that's it.

Why not give Lisa a call at Contractorbrella first thing on Monday morning and get all the answer to all your question and more in one phone call?

started a topic Umbrella and insurances

    Umbrella and insurances

Many (most?) umbrella companies include basic insurance in their fees, e.g.:

    Umbrella Company Insurance | ContractorUmbrella

    £5 million Professional Indemnity Insurance
    £10 million Employers Liability Insurance
    £5 million Public Liability Insurance

Is there any other insurance I should strongly consider, as an umbrella employee? If my brolly doesn't offer some of the above, should/can I get it on my own?

Working...
