Just to say that I used my survey results as the basis of a response highlighting the significant impact it would have on contractors based on the distances they traveled (well beyond the averages). From memory without the figures to hand:-

The average daily commute was 70 miles
The average weekly commute 370 miles.

Average daily expenses were £750 a month
Average weekly expenses £1800 a month.
