The second one might need to be set as a slave. Should be able to find the jumper settings on the seagate web site.

    Guys

thanks for the tips, but I gotta admit I'm a complete noob at hardware stuff like this. IDE what?!! Is there an Idiots Guide on the web u can recommend??

I did try surfing but the only things I found were about buying a case and using it as an external drive , which sounds good to me, except I didn't really understand the technicalities!

    Cheers

You will almost certainly need the low level formatting software from SeaGate.
    (Downloadable from t'internet)

    Have fun.

screw it into the case, no special casing required , there should be space under/over/next to the existing drive. If you have a spare IDE port on the board then you will be fine to use a seperate cable just plug it in and start it up, if not you will need to run the drive on an existing IDE cable.set the jumper settings to slave on the spare drive and the existing drive to master.

  • Sky+ hard drive upgraded, now what to do with spare disk?

    Hey all

I upgraded my Sky+ hard drive from 80Gb to 250Gb.

Now I'd like to use the old 80Gb drive (SeaGate) for my PC. Does anyone know how I can go about doing this?

Apparently I've got to buy casing for it and then the appropriate leads. But that's about all I know! Any detailed info would be appreciated.

    Cheers
