What is the noise ratio on your line? It could be that the signal is just not good enough to allow 8Mb.

I've got a Zoom X5. I am a bit suspicious of the router, but it's very hard to pin anything down...
Trying to contact f2s is as easy as getting to speak to an agent after you've failed the interview.
I'll keep a log and see what shows up.

Contact f2s who will run tests on the line in conjuction with BT. BT will normally ignore you as you are not their direct customer.
What router have you got? My not so old (the law of the sod made it just over a year old) netgear router was dropping all connections and rebooting itself every half hour or so. Thought it might have been ISP related but after plugging a new one in I have not had the problem for over a month now so must be faulty kit.
Reminds me, must shove the old one on ebay

A coworker of mine is with PlusNet, and he discovered that by default, ADSL connections were dropped after 30 minutes, unless you went to their website and selected to 'opt out' of this 'enhanced functionality'.... most ISPs are as trustworthy as recruitment agents.

dropping broadband connection
After half an hour or so of surfing the router starts flashing on and off and I lose connection.
I have to go downstairs and unplug the master filter for a couple of minutes, it then starts working again.
I'm with freedom2surf (which seems to have cocked everything up when it moved to 8Mb...
Do you suggest I start beating up BT or f2s first?Tags: None
