Had a bash at fixing this last night, but no go. The screwed partion was ext3, but e2fsck just threw up errors to do with magic blocks or super number or something I can't quite remember.

Anyway, re-installed it & used separate partitions for / & /home which should make it easier in the future.

Under my sandals I have nice white socks with blue and red bands around them and just a sprinkling of athelete's foot powder in them.

Cheers for the advice. I couldn't be arsed to try it out over the weekend, but should hopefully do it this week.

I find that the best way to gain more space is as follows:

su root
cd /
rm -rf

Works a treat for me

I'm surprised!!! You forgot either the . or the * on the rm parameter to glob the files.
