Hi All,

I am the owner of the abovementioned BulldogFax service. I found the link to this forum through people having clicked on it and come through to my website. I hope you all don't mind me posting on this board to clarify some of your concerns.

The way that the Bulldog fax to email service works is that the fax number you are given is a premium rated number which means that anybody that sends you a fax pays a little more for the call than they would to a traditional landline and a small portion of this extra fee is then paid across to me.

The faxes themselves are 100% ad free and the service is 100% free to the owner of the number. There are no limits on the volume of incoming faxes you can receive either.

We will be adding an email to fax service in the near future and this will work on a prepaid system.

We used to use a free fax to e-mail service for incoming. But we reached some type of limit and no one could fax us anymore.

I used a free email to fax service about 10 years ago when we used to send out marketing promotions to companies via fax.*

They used to charge for the fax to email side of the service, as they set you up on a virtual phone number so anyone faxing you would get charged a nominal amount.

Can't remember the name of the company but current offerings are probably comparable.

Was pretty painless. Just had to follow a few rules, like putting the fax number in the email subject so their service could forward it correctly. The Fax to email service used to convert the fax into a PDF attachment on the email you received.

* Faxing is still more effective than emailing. They always look at the fax, particularly these days when it's rare. Handy when trying to get through to customer services if they're not answering the phone or replying to emails, providing they have a fax number.

I've had an account with Virtual Office Phone System since about 2000, its always been a good service when I'ved used it for incoming and outgoing faxing (although I've not used it for a few years now).

Been looking at these, seems cost effective alternative to replacing a defective machine. Main interest is incoming faxes, rarely send any. Anyone used these services and got any reccomendations? Cheers.

There's one seems completely free here. Looks legit but how does a company provide a free service unless they get all the money from the ads they stick on the faxes? Wondering how large and distracting they might be on occasional outgoing faxes.
