Universities use one called Turnitin, it seems to work quite well

I'd be very careful before using Viper. It's distributed by a company that specialises in writing essays for students. Read the T's & C's very carefully and you'll see that in submitting a piece of work for a check actually gives them carte blanche to do whatever they want with that piece of work in the future.

Now what could a company, that profits from producing essay answers, be able to use a very large database of essays for?

Ah crap. Should've searched first. Viper appears to be the correct tool.

    started a topic Anti-plagiarism tool

    Anti-plagiarism tool

I'm looking for a tool that will parse a document (a word macro maybe), and, using google (or similar) to check whether any sections have been plagiarised - producing a "probability of plagiarism" index, if you will.

Anyone know of such a tool... or be willing to develop it?

Working...
