AFAIK SAS doesn't run on Windows 7, hence Ultimate.
I don't really need to buy or use any other software - so will do a one-off purchase from Overclockers - thanks Durbs.

Vote of confidence for Overclockers - have bought stuff from there and have been very happy with them.

I'm suprised there's any software that runs on Vista but not on Windows 7, unless it's a simple case of it reading the OS version and refusing to play, but compatibility mode fixes that.

In my experience the things that caused problems with Vista (UAC mainly) cause the same problems in W7, and W7 doesn't introduce anything new to make things worse.

Actually you still can get Vista, (at least my subs still can):

    Windows
Windows Vista Business Service Pack 2 04/05/2009
Windows Vista Business and Ultimate Editions for Partners 31/05/2009
Windows 7 Ultimate for Partners 14/08/2009
Windows 7 Professional for Partners 18/08/2009
Windows Vista Business w/SP2 for Partners 18/08/2009

I don't know what they are offering new subscribers though as they are changing it a bit atm I think. (My web kit subs is changing into something else I think)

    Have you tried compatibility mode?

I've found that everything that would run on Vista will run on 7 with some degree of coaxing (except one display driver).

But if you really want a cheapy vista then just search for the cheapest OEM on Google shopping. I tend to use Overclockers for my OEM stuff: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...odid=SW-040-MS

Action pack is slightly cheaper and gives you 10 Windows 7 licences and 10 Vista licenses too if i remember correctly.

Actually it looks like vista has dropped off it now:
