Thanks. Somewhat bizarrely (in my opinion any how) my Word .doc CV gets a better rating in Google than the rest of my website. The words it seems to rate are "process engineer".Originally posted by TheFaQQer View PostThe text between the <a> and </a> tags on the page.

Or something like that - assuming that anyone on here knows the algorithm that Google uses to boost you up the rankings.

Thanks, what exactly is the anchor text? Edit- OK, I understand now.Originally posted by DimPrawn View PostIt would help for those specific keywords. Make sure every page has a unique title and that the relevant keywords to the page are in the title.
But links back to your website with the relevant keywords in the anchor text are the most important.Last edited by Fred Bloggs; 4 December 2009, 20:10.

How important is domain name in SEO rankings?
I have the domain fred-bloggs-consulting.co.uk (not really) and a Google search for "Process Engineer" gets me nowhere near a good rating despite having relevant keywords, good content, decent meta tags etc... It seems all the searched for this kind of term are flooded by jobs boards. If I had a domain like process-engineer.com would that help in my SEO rankings at all? Thanks.Tags: None
