    Therefore you can upgrade to Windows 7 with impunity: no matter what you're running, Microsoft will still break it for you

    UPDATE: actually, the Beeb story you linked to also says that it affects Vista and XP, too. It looks like they're just recycling the Reg story.

    Microsoft investigates Windows 7 'screen of death'.

    Anyone know which patch the article is referring to?

    Planning of upgrading to Windows 7 in the next few weeks and would like to avoid this issue.
