Anyone on SafariOnline?

Just so you know, I work for a major publisher that delivers to Safari, bit of basic guides for less-techie people, but the point is we're not O'Reilly but you can find the books on Safari.

I can only see
2 options, at $22 or $42 per month + VAT. Maybe they changed it and you're on a tariff no longer offered.

As long as I've used safari (2+ years) they've had far more books than just the o'reilly ones. I currently have the cheapest subscription (had a more expensive one before) which only gives you five slots but I think that's good enough for reviewing books before I buy them in hard copy.
PDF portability is not all that important to me, when I read the entire books on there it was easy enough to get online via the mobile + laptop.

My subscription comes out at around £6-7/month I think.

I've got a yearly sub to the unlimited version, but I'm not going to renew it. It is very good, but very expensive when you're not using it a lot! I used to download the PDFs, but it's just a faff. The online viewing via the iPhone works really well now though. TBH after a few years of having it, I'm leaning towards going back to buying books rather than trying to read them on a screen.

I have always been wary because while O'reilly have books on every technology, they're not always the ones I'd want... and having to keep up multiple online subscriptions would get pricey.
But I noticed they now have several other publishers on board including Manning and other more specialist publishers (Oracle Press for instance), and am quite tempted.
My main concern now is that you aren't able to simply download a book on your shelf, but have to use credits... you get 5 a month which is maybe enough for 1/2 a book, and have to pay nearly £2 for each additional credit. That seems a pain, if you have to pay extra to read offline... and I am not sure it's preferable.
For ~£30/month you get your subscription, and to be able to actually download one full book a month that's about £10 on top. But for £40/month you could buy 2 books (electronic or even paper) in a more traditional way.

Any thoughts from current/past users?
