All these programs seem to be wrappers around Mencoder, I`ve found that audio sync is a recurring problem.

Have a try of Leawo MP4 converter, the free cut down version does AVI's and it will also stack them up if you have a few to do.

Yes it is, I stripped it down and used it to make batch files. I can now drag whole folders, drives or even just single files to it and it will convert to ipod or walkman format. I'm quite happy with it.Originally posted by Spacecadet View Postis that the 3gp converter?

I use this wierd Japanese one which uses mplayer and some other things, but I've hacked about with it so I can have multiple versions to convert for my ipod or my walkman or whatever. Easy peasy

Tested his on several AVI.
Could be something alone the lines that AVI is not a format in itself a container of another format.
Edit: I also use MPEG Streamclip.
