FF 3.06 and OP 9.63 on Vista 64 bit for some time now with no problems. Been running other versions of OP and FF on Vista 32 bit for a couple of years with nary a problem in sight.

Op 9.63 and FF 3.04 ok anyway although I don't use them much, only to check any website updates.

I've been using Opera on Vista for 2 years and no issues at all.
My only problem is Vista in general, it has crashed my HD 3 times in the past year

I would imagine an upgrade to the latest version will sort out your problems.
Currently using (although not now) Opera 9.5 and have the same issues. Will try the upgrade to 9.64 but think the problem is more fundamental.

The Opera and FF processes in task manager keep getting stuck and will not terminate properly. The only fix I can find is a reboot as trying to restart the browser results in a message akin to "Firefox is already running" despite that process being stuck.
