Thanks guys, I will check these products out. Though I hope they focus on change management just as much as bug / version control.

It might not do everything you need, but BugZilla is commonly used for assigning tasks to people and lets you change status, log time against tasks as well as generating reports on all kinds of things. If you use version control hosted by CVSDude.com for example, you get this free.
On the more fully featured end, FogBugz is the software that Joel Spolsky (of Joel on Software fame) built his company around. You can get a free version for 2 or less users and a unrestricted free trial for 45 days; after that it's $25/month/user IIRC. I haven't used it but being in a similar situation to yourself with subcontracting work, I'm planning to give it a try.

Change Control Tool?
Hi all,
Aside from my main contract, I have a developer working for me for one of my 'side' clients. Problem is the work is getting more plentiful and the frequency of 'I want this done ASAP' is getting more prominent.
Thus far, I have been managing everything via email and endless phone meetings, but this is proving to be unmanageable and inefficient.
Is there a something on the web I could download and use as a Change Control package to put up on a website that all parties can access?
For example, I want my client to be able to request new changes, approve work, and make comments on work / have discussions. I then want my developer and myself to have access to this so that work can be assigned, estimated number of hours agreed, costs, timescales etc.
Nothing too comprehensive, just a basic 'middle management' tool would be highly beneficial and save me writing proposals / invoices for every bit of work that comes through.
Any ideas?
