Doesn't quite work that way
You say you are going to cancel (don't say you are "thinking of cancelling", ask for the cancellations dept) and their job is to talk to you out of it.
If worst comes to worst and they call your bluff (which they won't), you have to give 30 days notice anyway, so just call them back within the 30 days and say you've changed your mind.

Be prepared for them to call your bluff and cancel your contract for youOriginally posted by voodooflux View PostHmmm, I might have a go at some bargaining.
I'm sure nothing makes a call centre operator happier than hearing someone try to threaten to cancel, and end up begging them not to take away their TV

Hmmm, I might have a go at some bargaining.Originally posted by FiveTimes View PostI called sky and said I wanted multi room, but couldn't justify the cost. they said it would be £199. I said forget it I'll cancel my sub, they instantly came back with free installation and box for £30.
I um'd and argh'd and said what about the monthly fee ? they said it was a tenner. I offered them 6 months @ £5 and the deal was struck
Its always worth calling them and making the suggestion that you are going to leave

Aye, that's the other thing that pains me. By the time you've added the box, installation and HD supplement it starts to become rather unattractive.Originally posted by ratewhore View PostI have my old Sky+ box in the conservatory plugged into the sky dish so i currently get the freesat channels. Just phoned them to get the lowdown on Multiroom HD, and I sense they would waive the £10 HD supplement if you pay £199 for the box instead of the £99 they advertise on their website.
I think I'll keep waiting.

Had Sky HD for about 6 months and only just upgraded to movies. The clarity, depth perception and colour improvement is noticeable (dependent obviously on tv setup), sport is better, BBC HD and Channel 4 HD are very, very good (filming is obviously in HD too) and I have about 25 channels of HD content.

Yeah, I remember the £10 Sky+ supplement, but they dropped it soon after if you subscribed to a full package of channels. Sounds like they've dropped it completely now.Originally posted by ContractIn View PostI received a letter recently about increasing broadband package by £5 per month but as I were a HD subscriber then I wold not get this increase. Guess if they dropped HD subscription, then will be charged extra £5 per month for broadband, but still be £5 better off.
I remember Sky+ when first launched had a £10 per mont subscription.
I might give Sky a ring in a bit and see what the situation is with multiroom HD.

Hmmm, sounds like some people aren't being charged the HD sub on their multiroom package - might be worth a call to Sky.

If you've got the movie and sport channels, yes definitely. If not, then maybe. They do add new HD channels from time to time.Originally posted by HeliCraig View PostEvening All,
I am thinking about getting Fiance HC Sky for Christmas. She will love it, and it does have the added bonus of meaning I will have Discovery channels again!
I have 42" Toshiba HD T.V. (bargain last year on Curry's Christmas Day Online Sale!) - but it is only the 720 variety - none of this 1080 stuff!
So, for those of you who have Sky, is it worth me paying the extra £10 a month (£120 a year!!) for the HD option?
What do you think? TIA.
C.

In my opinion, viewed on a Sony 40" LCD Bravia TV, the Sky HD content is simply not worth the extra outlay over the SD broadcasts. Having said that, the new Samsung Sky HD box gives a far better SD picture than our previous PACE SD Sky+ box ever did.
