Thanks for the suggestions, but not quite what I had in mind.
Anyway, in case anyone else has a similar requirement at some point, did a bit of hunting and the correct term I was looking for was file hosting. DOH.
A quick Google came up with:

I sometimes use BT Digital Vault for that kind of thing. You can get a free account I think and set public/private access permissions to the stuff you upload. Good for temporary stuff as you have described.

Doesnt your broadband supplier/ISP give you any space? I think even a free Tiscali account does.

Temporary file upload site
Can anyone recommend a temporary file storage website where I can upload a PDF document for a week?
Am selling something on eBay and wanted to place a link to the manufacturers PDF brochure of the item as it is no longer available on their website.
Something similar to Photobucket.
