Have not installed Leopard yet waiting until all the bugs are ironed out... besides there's no need to rush over everything works fine the way I need it right now.

Upgraded to Leopard yesterday. Upgrade went smoothly but it seemed to break a few things and turn off several options that were defaults on Tiger.

Biggest issue was that I can no-longer browse my windows network from the finder. Not sure is this is a real bug of a configuration issue but I'm starting to think it;s a bug. Not a huge problem as I can still mount the volumes via SMB manually but still a nuisance.

Got time machine up and running without any hassle backing up to my old pc via the network. Very nice app that does exactly what it says on the tin.

Other than that I need to find my old windows install discs so I ca get boot camp set up.

I'm happy with my value-for-money Western Digital 500GB drive.

To be sure about Firewire, open Utilities>System profiler and click Firewire on the left-hand side. (under hardware)

    If it's a 24" it does. If it isn't, it doesn't.

Yep I had to switch to Thunderbird + Lightening. Entourage Calendar does handle DST to well.
Would have stuck to Mail + iCal but those damned Outlook users can't handle the meeting invites.

Thanks for the tip. I was having a look at the Maxtor drives & noted that you can get them in either FireWire 400 or 800.

Would the speed difference matter much, if I were to use it mainly for time machine (i.e. backups)?

Found this that looks like it sorts the problem.
