Quick up date, never actually ended up setting it up. The Mare's health got worse so she was sent down to the Royal Veterinary Colledge Hospital at South Mimms. Sadly, despite the efforts of the staff there, the foal died shortly after being born.

On a lighter note, you should be able to rig up a shotgun on one of these .

I did some work for Sony a few years ago testing a product called Realsho manager and they had some stunning PTZ cameras an RZ-30 if I remember correctly.

Very very good image quality, excellent zoom and all the benefits of 360 * 180 degree movement. Unfortunatly they were about £1500 at the time, but that was 3-4 years ago now. Worth having a look to see what the current version is like.

    This looks pretty good.

I know Maplin sell Swann products so might be worth poping into your local store to eyeball it first.

Yes - they have a built in webserver or you can publish the images on your own site or sign up (some may involve a subscription) to a service provided by the manufacturer.

I had a similar scenario for a client several months ago - he wanted to monitor a couple of shops he had as he was sure the staff had their hand in the till.

I speced up a solution (he didn't go with us in the end) and when researching cameras it was obvious the DLinks etc image quality wasn't as good as I had expected.

I would look for a specilaist camera maker who has added IP functionality to his products as opposed to your 'IT' manufacturers churning out another networking product for home use.

Using my old laptops (some with busted screens) as CCTV recorders. They connect to a phone line and email me if there is any movement.

I can't recommend a specific model, but a quick Google has brought up the following which may help:

I Need a wireless infrared camera setup that can be viewed remotely via the internet from multiple locations.

It's to be used to monitor the progress of a mare in foal who has some serious medical complications with the pregnancy. Both the owners and vets would need to be able to view the camera 24/7 from different locations.

Wireless is needed because the camera will have to be mounted in the stables while the host PC is in the yard office.

You can get multiple wireless cameras on the market that transmit to a single reciever that in turn connects to a PC or laptop via a capture card. Maplins do some good CCTV stuff of this kind www.maplin.co.uk
