I actually picked up the COMPAQ V6314EA LAPTOP last week, got a good deal as get 10% off the price. Great for what I need it for. Would recommend it. PC world's aftercare is rubbish though, but everyone knows that. Only thing about it is that it does not come with a resource disc, got the recovery software built into it. Just dont roll it back to XP as there is no support for it on this laptop, no drivers no f**k all.
I think there is the option in one of the programs to create the media. Also I did see some bit of paper in the box that said you could get the CD's too. I didn't look at either too closely.
I might set it up to dual boot sometime; once I work out how....

just been out and bought one of these £479 Compaq jobbies from PC World.
Overall i'm very impressed with the look and performance of it. Vista is a bit of a pain in the arse and i'm in the process of trimming down all the crappy resource-hogging features it installs
Nice one - when i went down to my local store, theyd sold out, f*** it never mind.

I would also suggest buying laptops and PCs from the internet - even reputable sellers are cheaper than PC World.
This doesn't apply to Macbooks however as Stevie has firm control on resellers...
More often than not I would agree with you all, PC World does tend to overprice, but I think a HP Dual Core for 450 quid including 120gb drive is pretty good going, think I'll go for it.
...has an Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor albeit with a higher spec etc, anyone has either of these, any good??
I've had a 6 yr old Compaq Armada laptop for a few years, been good to me, but showing its age now, hence the u/g to a new one.
Ive seen that Intel beats other branded processors in performanc tests etc, but is this true??
Cheers in advance!
PC World's mark up on PC's and laptops constitute a legalised rip-off. Their after sales support is sh1te. Avoid!!!!
