Annoying that the web/desktop versions still rely on the phone to send/receive messages though. Whatsapp were supposed to be releasing standalone versions but hasn't happened yet.

What is the Tech stack behind WhatsApp Web?
I am currently learning app development with the view of releasing an app (obviously). I like the way WhatsApp approached its web version - similar to a stand alone application, with its QR code etc.
Does any one know what is the tech behind its Web approach? Is it something like an ElectronJS?
