Isn't that part of the core security model though?

I failed to use the correct terminology. I should have said WhatsApp Web/Desktop approach.

What is the Tech stack behind WhatsApp Web?

I am currently learning app development with the view of releasing an app (obviously). I like the way WhatsApp approached its web version - similar to a stand alone application, with its QR code etc.

Does any one know what is the tech behind its Web approach? Is it something like an ElectronJS?

I am aware that they are using Erlang for their core product. It is their Web approach that I am curious about.
