Javascript Skills ?

There's shedloads of demand for JavaScript developers at the moment, though much of it is predicated on demeaning yourself by learning garbage frameworks like Angular

I'm glad it's not just me that thinks that. I keep looking for a decent way to do GUI in Javascript* and keep failing to find anything.

*Of course by Javascript I mean Typescript.

Hmm, but they are both completely different technologies. One if client side scripting and other is server side programs running on a virtual machine. Although javascript has evolved and has some object oriented aspects, ultimately if you specialise in pure server side technologies you are not under any pressure to skill up into some new fangled client side frameworks.

Thats why I've avoided FE like the plague, pay is tulip and it changes every 2 minutes, clients are still paying me over 600 notes a day for java/spring/hibernate almost 15 years later

Away from the bright lights of Shoreditch, there's still plenty of call for people who can get stuff done in plain vanilla JS or with a bit of jQuery, though such roles will also usually call for decent CSS and HTML knowledge (which are both considerably rarer than people think).

The muddled excuse for an ecosystem around React is what all the cool kids are into at the moment (or at least they were within the last few months), so expect to see demand for that ramping up in more traditional environments over the next year or so.

Anyone knows if there is any Javascript contractor hiring at the moment ?. Well I guess there is some, I am wondering how slow is it dripping. Or is it permiedom with Javascript as well ? .
