    The only thing I would add is that really you need to find a platform which does what you need - rather than using a platform based on what you already have and then trying to make it work.

    +1. There are few things where you name the company and you think, nah, actually Oracle is the less painful option. HP is one of those...

    I know people who use Exadata. I can't even remember anyone in HP using Vertica...

    I'm looking at new analytical db platforms, I can't pick anything but its either got to be HP Vertica or Oracle Exadata as the company has already got licenses for these and infra.
