    Switch one on, wait five minutes. Switch it off, and switch another one on. And up the stairs to see which light it was.

    If there is a light on, then you've found it.
    If there isn't one on, check which light bulb is warm, then you've found it.

    B knows.

    If A could see two white hats he would have known his (A's) was black and would have said so.
    B can see C's white hats and so therefore must have a black one.

    Soooo bored today

    A B C || D

    A = white hat
    B = black hat
    C= white hat
    D = black hat

    They can not see their own hat

    A can see B and C
    B can see C
    C can see no one
    D can see no one

    The first person to get the color of their own hat wins a million
    but they must get it right, no guessing. They cant discuss it.
    No tricks, no throwing.

    Clue, when they get the go ahead, no one speaks for about 20 seconds then one of the four speaks up 'I am wearing a xx color hat' and they are right

    A says white hat and is right, he guessed.

    John & Paul cross and John comes back with torch = 3mins
    Ringo & George cross = 10 mins
    Paul comes back with torch = 2 mins
    John and Paul cross = 2 mins

    Total = 17 mins

    This assumes that John and Paul didn't have a fight about who was better/faster etc
