    Unless I'm mistaken onus/responsibility of person to declare (even though a lot of people won't know about it) question is if this is on the host tax return or in the UK

    How are folks not resident in UK for tax purposes affected.??

    If they are not resident this tax year or next the LC cannot apply to them can it?

    Even if HMRC try to argue that remuneration by way of loans was done in the past , certainly if the years are closed they will have difficulty persuading a non resident to volunteer to make a donation I would have thought.... I suppose if there was an enquiry open on an open year they may try to extract payment via the Australian tax authorities.???

    Some of our clients are Aus/NZ citizens and back there and have taken local advice.

    They are willing to share this for a modest contribution to the original cost.
