I guess you want to be like the US where if you are poor and accused of a major crime then you get no forensics and the tuliptest lawyer around so someone gets locked up for the crime even if they are innocent. Even better if they are given the death penalty I suppose....
Or we could just become like the US. Arm everyone. All portions supersize so everyone obese. Create an underclass.

At least petrol(gas?) would be cheap.

    Nope.

Just read about various US injustices over the years.

If you want to ensure you minimise the waste of public funds you give them a decent lawyer. Then you hope they follow that lawyer's advice and plead guilty if all the evidence e.g. seen by witnesses stabbing someone, caught trying to detonate a bomb, points to it.

Once they are in prison if someone nicks their milk you give them two as a replacement.

I thought APN went into the overall tax pot. I was not aware it was spent on specific projects?

I am even more as to why this thread is in A+L.

I thought it was all for hospitals and orphanages so that the sick in this country were not kicked back out on the street too early (as a neighbour of mine was last week, 82 years old, broken arm from a fall, sciatica and then had to be readmitted) and the kiddies would not be preyed upon by monster perverts due to lack of social worker supervision?

    Tax is a covenant.

We pay in the expectation that it will be spent wisely.

The spenders undertake to be sensible.

If the spending side is broken, why should the covenant hold?
