Unfortunately that isn't a 'unique selling point'; there are many, many competitors on that market.

You got that right, if ever Wales wanted independence I would relocate to England as the WAG are a bunch of inbred feckwits who have no idea incompetence is an understatement.Originally posted by zeitghost View PostThere's tidy then, boyo.

A few coal fired power stations as they are quick to put up. Meanwhile design nuclear power stations in the UK (stuff the Frogs).
And no petrol cars in the UK from 2030. Go all electric. Then the Iraqis and the rest of the middle-east nutters can be left to kill each other in peace.

There is absolutely loads of gas. North Sea, Middle East, Russia.
Never mind the stuff you can get from fracking - which has put the US on a course from being an importer to being an exporter of energy ( the "Peak Oil" crowd didn't see that coming! )
We might see some short-term supply spikes caused by political events, but long term gas should be a reasonably secure choice.

But gas replaced coal, which is finite and comes from Russia.Originally posted by Troll View PostThe "dash to gas " of the early 90's by the newly privatised electric companies caused a lot of today's issues
If we had a joined up government energy policy it may have stopped or at least slowed the crazy use of a finite resource i.e. natural gas to be burnt to generate electricity
What's your preferred way of generating electricity?

Russia is not unstable. Putin has ruled since 2000. That seems much more stable than most other countries.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostEurope faces gas shortage as Russia cuts Ukraine supply after talks fail - Telegraph
