I posted quote requests for a job using Myhammer. I also found the best painter in the world on that site.....

We moved house last year, and I used mybuilder to get a carpenter to do a built in wardrobe for us and also used it to get some gas engineers to work on the flame heaters in the house. No problems with both sets of workmen. I tend to only select workmen with at least 10 positive reviews.Originally posted by minestrone View PostAnyone used such a service to hire trades people?
I have a joinery/carpentry DIY task of about a days work which after some consideration I can't be arsed doing it myself.
Considering pitching it out over mybuilder and just wanted to know if this has went well for people in the past.
Cheers

I've not used that site but I have posted a few jobs on ratedpeople.com . We dropped onto a good sparky who did a great job.

Never heard of this site, thanks for the tip. I'll pass it on to a builder currently setting up full-time as well, no doubt he'd like to use it (and he's not too IT-savvy so won't have found it).

I think it's something to do with the weather forecast. But that's only of interest to older people. The young folks don't do weather.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostWhat is this "outlook"? Is it a thing where junk mail comes through?

Yep.Originally posted by Indy View PostYes they are not a bad service. Yellow Pages does that still exist?
Got one posted through my letterbox a few months back - ended up straight in the recycling. They have an online site plus the fact it can be posted through a letterbox means that loads of businesses think it's not worth advertising in it.

Funny. I'm never disappointed by the works I've had carried out by trades people advertising in the YP.Originally posted by minestrone View PostYP call screams 'overcharge me'.
Pay peanuts and then pay again for the job to be done properly.

Cheers cp,
I think I'll give it a go. Obviously it is harder for you to get ripped off if they know there are multiple quotes coming in.
