The lack of private pension provision isn't a government liability, neither are short falls in corporate schemes. The only black hole the government is responsible for is the state pension, and that has been designed in from the start.

Trying to kill off private pensions has been there since the invention of the state pension ?, wow I never knew Gordon had invented a time machineOriginally posted by doodab View PostNo he didn't. It's been there since the invention of the state pension.

He has made friends in SNP!
Ms Sturgeon argued: "The last person anyone in Scotland will take lessons from when it comes to pensions is Gordon Brown - the man who destroyed final-salary pension schemes with his £100bn raid, and insulted our older folk with a miserly 75p increase in the state pension.

Pensions is actually pretty interesting aspect of independence - in the event of Yes vote - surely those who paid taxes to UK should be entitled to some pension? I guess that's the only real aspect that could force Scotland take on some debts in exchange for continued pension payments from UK budget.

Exactly. What's the purpose of this argument when both governments are facing the same problem?Originally posted by Ticktock View PostWhy does this mean that Scotland would be able to fund theirs?
