Deterioration in quality of spam

I only started seeing the fake Amazon ones recently, caught me off-guard enough to open the email.

I have had some scarily realistic ones over the last six months or so, one faked from HMR&C about VAT return details that coincided perfectly with my VAT return dates!

I have been receiving these too - one almost had me convinced except it was to an address that HMRC don't have!

I've started getting payroll ones that coincide exactly with my real payroll date, just coincidence but someone could get fished in

I do like hitting the fake websites on the Linux box and entering false details if I am a bit bored. Should script something to spam them to death really with a load of fake details

What's going on in the cyber-crime world?
Am I suddenly not so popular, or seen as less wealthy than in the past?

The quality of scam emails I'm receiving have seriously deteriorated recently.

No attempt at a realistic email address. Not bothering to use the correct website name. It not being a fake website (it actually redirects to Amazon.com). The use of "?" in place of an apostrophe. Directing me to the website to login, so no need for me to open the attachment.

Exhibit B:
I won't post it (mainly as I deleted it already) - suffice to say a standard "Nigerian Prince" type email, but with completely mangled syntax, spelling, vocabulary - the lot. Not a single coherent phrase in the email. Nothing in the mail even encouraging me to hand over bank details, just some vague suggestion that I could if I liked.

Diverse banks who I have never banked with asking me to login and change my password - all with my name and multiple others all showing in the "To:" field as they couldn't even be bothered to BCC, all coming from addresses such as fdh38u@dej289j.com as they couldn't be arsed trying to pretend to be the actual bank...

It's like an insult. Like somehow the spammers and scammers of the world have decided that I'm just not good enough for their top drawer emails and have now decided to outsource the job, only bothering to continue sending me anything at all as a courtesy. Maybe the next step will be to withdraw their services altogether unless I buy a subscription.
