    My wife had a kidney transplant a few years ago and was told to avoid low salt version of salt because of the potassium in it

    It was also used in DIY suicide kits (well I suppose all suicide is DIY by definition), but now the KCl is not available in "no" salt but only in "low" salt, i.e. it is mixed with enough NaCl to avoid the heart-stopping results.
