As everyone who walks in or past my office can see my screen I have images turned off in Firefox settings so nothing appears on websites apart from embedded YouTube videos, works a dream
In an ideal world, I'd like to switch off images (already done), signatures (already done), avatars (already done), smilies, adverts, you tube preview pics...
I'd guess that from a commercial point of view, having a style which doesn't include adverts (or big ones anyway) could be dangerous - not knowing whether CUK gets paid per click or paid per impression makes a difference, but if you had something truly stealthy, it would probably impact the revenue stream which keeps the site going.
I'd be surprised if there wasn't a standard style which you can use which renders smilies as :) rather than and converted video links to a URL rather than an actual video, though.
You can switch avatars, signatures and images off in your settings.
Can't switch smilies or videos off, though, so you'll always see the pictures of those. You don't get inline images in the professional forums, either.
You can, but it would be useful to be able to do it locally - either cookie the settings, or do it via css. (Nick's benched, isn't he? )
Why is there no open office friendly forum style - no images, no avatars, no smiles, everything in Visual Studio colours ? CUK Stealth is not stealth at all ..
Wouldn't be a problem with Firefox but sadly IE only policy at the client co site.
Don't be a mug and get Google Glass, admin gave it to all top posters ...
