Sorry but not even sure why this up for debate, the bikers are in the wrong for thinking that they rule the road. If a gang that big surround my car with my family in it I am flooring it, obviously the sensible thing would be to drive straight to the nearest police station to report it, I can't believe US roads won't have some sort of CCTV for traffic etc.

I am guessing he was trying to do that when he got caught in traffic. I would have floored it in reverse and considered any injuries to the bikers to be their own fault but he did not and is lucky not to have been killed for it.

Yes but I believe some American cars have an option where you can lock the doors at your convenience.

Also, they broke his windows when they stopped him near the end, I assumed that was because his doors were locked but I might be mistaken.

Like i said there are 2 videos doing the rounds, that is not the start of the video, on one of the videos it starts with the range rover running over several bikes, (the front end goes up in the air), the bit with the fella slowing is later on

Possibly - this video has the biker slowing first, then a little later the Range Rover flying over the top of a few bikes. Are you sure this isn't the longer version?

Do you mean the bit near the start where a biker pulls in front of the Range Rover and then starts slowing down, while looking behind himself at the car, as if he's trying to force the driver to stop?

[EDIT: He may not have been looking back at the car, but does appear to have pulled in front and then slowed down while looking over his other shoulder. With bikes going past on both sides I'd imaging the driver was probably quite distracted and probably didn't see this guy slowing down]

The biggest unclear thing about this is near the start where you see the driver suddenly pull away, obviously piling over the top of a couple of bikes. What you can't see is whether he had a reason to do so, such as them trying to pull his doors open as they do later.
I have a feeling the whole incident must have started even earlier than the video. A wild guess would be something like a near miss, or one party or the other getting cut up, and road rage escalated.

As for later on, once he'd already had bikers trying to open the car doors, I'm surprised that when the next lot started trying to overtake him he didn't just swerve over and sideswipe them.

And also, why did the car not explode when someone hit the window ?
Which is what I believe happens to cars in the US.
Unless Hollywood has lied to me.

Most car doors in the states lock when the car starts moving.

Most of the cars I have owned do that over here too.

It's not often that I am left completely speechless but this is one of those times...

The driver has panicked. But my god you really want to hurt someone if you have decided to hit them with a 2 tonne Range Rover I really am not surprised that the bikers came back at him.

I feel most sorry for the wife and child it must have been horrific.

years ago I upset the Winchester chapter of the Hells angels they were in an old Granada faffing about and I overtook them.

They overtook on a blind bend and then slammed their brakes on, we locked ourself in the car and dialled 999 if we hadn't had my mobile then CUK might have been a lot quieter.

police when we rang them weren't all that helpful but the fact we did visibly ring them scared all 5 guys off.

They smashed the windows and opened the door from the inside.

His mistake was not reversing over each and every one of them.

From what I have read on this story it's as follows.

Bikers had blocked off entrances to freeway and were trying to slow down cars so they could race/pull stunts etc on empty stretch of road.

Possibly guy with family thought he was about to be robbed or maybe clipped one of the bikes as they tried to slow him down to clear highway.

Bikers reacted by trying to smash his windows.

Guy thought "this is it, we're all dead" and sped through bikes injuring some of the bikers.

Others pursued, dragged him from car and beat him unconcious.

Now imagine you were out in your car with your family, what would you have done?

I'm hoping every single one of those bikers is charged with attempted murder and convicted.

Personally i'd have found the nearest Police station and parked outside it with a couple of the biker scum/roadkill on the front of my range rover.
