He's just McBride with hairOriginally posted by Peoplesoft bloke View PostWhilst the Mail and everyone who pays money for it are beneath contempt, the lamentable spectacle of Alistair Campbell trying to pretend he occupies some kind of moral high ground away from the scum who run a lot of the media in this country is pretty sickening.

Think this might be another Newspaper suicide, there is a big twitter campaign to get the Wail's advertisers to pull out. Give it a week and it'll be another News of the World (lets hope).

quite a good idea but I suspect its "he without sin casting the first stone".Originally posted by darmstadt View PostI think its backfiring on the Mail a bit here with a number of companies dropping advertising (Co-op, Morrisons, Sainsbury, Waitrose) and with the latest revelation that a Mail reporter sneaked into a private event to dig up dirt shows that they're ******* of the highest order. I just wish one of the major papers decide to make the Mail's Nazi and Anti-Semitic background frontpage news, maybe dig into how come the editor's (Dacre) father never served in the war, but they won't as they have some limits. Mind you, the Mail is still a cracking good read for bigots...
would like to see another paper do a story on the mail's owners & editor.

Then don't go into politics and quote your father in your speeches!Originally posted by mudskipper View PostNasty stuff. Would hate to be judged by my dad's politics.
If Ed Miliband wanted his father to be off limits, he should have kept quiet about him – Telegraph BlogsIn 2012 he spoke of how “having struggled for life itself, [my parents] instilled in us a sense of duty to ease the struggles of others. And this came not just from my parents’ wartime experience it came from the daily fabric of our childhood”. In 2011 it was how his parents “fled the Nazis. And came to Britain. They embraced its values. Outsiders. Who built a life for us”. In his very first speech as Labour leader he said: “I suppose not everyone has a dad who wrote a book saying he didn't believe in the parliamentary road to socialism. But you know, it wasn't a cold house. It was warm, full of the spirit of argument and conviction, the conviction that leads me to stand before you today, the conviction that people of courage and principle can make a huge difference to their world.”
In one of the first party political broadcasts after Ed Miliband was elected, his father featured prominently – though there was a cack-handed attempt to airbrush out the Marxist philosopher bit of his biography. Instead he was reframed as a war veteran who had run his own removal company.

^^ ThisOriginally posted by vetran View Postespecially if CMD had brought them into his speeches.
Although I can't say I ever listened to his speeches, so I have to take it on faith that he did so, but if he keeps banging on about how his father was an inspiration etc. - he's opened the door...
