Likewise. I reckon I've only walked away from a couple of six or thereabouts where I felt that was a job well done, and have had repeat business from those clients. Try to aim for 1 in 3 these days.

The jobs that never go well are the ones the call me when the client project is at the 11th hour and it's we're paying you @£$£ loads can't you just wave a magic wand? When it reality it's someone coming in and telling them something they already knew but just din't want to hear.

The good jobs are the ones are where the client is stumped. It's not always a solution sometimes it's the requirement is just identifying the problem, but they're alway satisfying.

I'm sure you will do as good a job as others in management positions they've sought out.

Do it for your own piece of mind.
In the midst of all the crap you're dealing with, know that you kept your standards.
Don't forget to invoice. The arrival of monies will be sweet closure.

    Eventually? Is 12 not enough?

This one does take the biscuit, it's hard to think of anything they've managed to do right (except for hiring me of course)
