These people are accountable to no one and yet if one is to look closely at the problems they are supposed to solve you will see consistent failure to perform.
They spend most of their energies trying to screw the system for every penny they can take and devising systems that mean that they are not accountable for failure.
When they do fail they always cite a lack of funds or "under resourcing" as their excuse, thus manipulating us into feeling ashamed and guilty. So much so many of us (people who do proper jobs) then become lilly livered self righteous lefties to make them feel better about ourselves.

So righteous do these people become about the sanctity of their cause that they begin to behave like extreme religious nutters (PJ Clarke)
What gives them away is their refusal to concede any ground at all, but instead to "control" us by trashing every piece of dissent that arises.
There are funnily enough solutions to CO2 and air and water pollution that would have no economic impact. But if ever these were to be implemented a lot of people would suddenly become poor and properly exposed as worthless twats who should be picking fruit from the fields.

Agnostic on the EU. Not sure I'd prefer a world where I paid BUPA for my healthcare and only Sky and ITV to watch. Maybe that's just me.

Sounds like your average bank exec, in fact I give you Matt Ridley. I am sure you'd like him. He wrote
'The little-known ninth law of thermodynamics states that the more money a group receives from the taxpayer, the more it demands and the more it complains.'
    and
'a self-seeking flea on the backs of the more productive people of this world … governments do not run countries, they parasitise them'
Of course that was before his agressive business model at Northern Rock brought it to its knees and he had to go cap in hand to the 'self-seeking parasite' for £27bn of Government bail-out (aka our money) after having conjured the first run on a British bank since 1878.

Ridley resigned, blamed everyone but himself, returned to his family estate at Blagdon Hall, and started writing error-filled books and articles on Global Warming. Doesn't sound that accountable to me.

Well, glad to see the '15 year pause' acknowledged as a cherry-pick. Care to tell these people?

Let me google that for you

And that is the problem with socialism. It has always involved the use of revolting means to pursue an unattainable end. It has seen the rights and liberties of individuals trampled in the name of a collective good. Damian McBride is a small but interesting example of the mental contortions of socialists over the last century, when there is no abuse or tyranny – large or trivial – that has not been justified in the name of the people/the planet.
I thought that the language and tone of the piece was a bit exaggerated and over the top. Then I scrolled back up and saw who the author was.

The green line is the warming trend since 1950.

The blue is a 15 year period where the warming happened twice as fast as the trend, also 2x the IPCC projections.

The purple is the last 15 years aka 'The pause'.

Of course to the science deniers the 15 year rapid warming was entirely ignored or explicable by natural variation around the trend. While the 'pause' is proof positive that AGW is a scam

Maybe 15 years is too short a period to achieve significance?

RT is running a very nice documentary about a Russian Antarctic supply ship. They had not been able to supply a station outpost for two years because of the thickness of the ice however, the comment was that the ice last year was too thick at two meters but this year it is three meters; in desperation we have to keep reversing and ramming our way through.
