+1 lloyds tsb did that for us a few years back. It does mean that I am the named driver on my wife's car and she is the named person on mine but having a named lady driver will save a fortune when I replace my current car (and yes it is stated that I'm the main driver before anyone asks).Originally posted by formant View PostLV have mirrored my partner's NCD on the other car, so we did get the discount twice.

All sorts of components make up car insurance risk assessment.Originally posted by AtW View PostIf you drove Car A with NCB of X, then buying Car B (more expensive than A) and insuring it using multi-car insurance, and they give choice which car should NCB be used for then is using Car B ok for NCB purposes?!?!
If Car A is a dilapidated PUG with the same 0-60 characteristics as a wheelbarrow, but without such sleek lines, then any assessor worth his salt is immediately going to question your eyesight/style/solvency.
Horses for courses.

Depends on how you set up[ the original policy; I believe you'd have to cancel the policy on Car A, get a new Policy for car B and add Car A to it.Originally posted by AtW View PostIf you drove Car A with NCB of X, then buying Car B (more expensive than A) and insuring it using multi-car insurance, and they give choice which car should NCB be used for then is using Car B ok for NCB purposes?!?!

When I initially had a second car I found AA insurance gave me a big discount when I put down that I had another car and the NCB. That made them much cheaper than everybody else. By year 2, I had 1 year NCB on the second policy and that made it cheaper to go elsewhere.Originally posted by MyUserName View PostI have a policy for one car with direct line and another one with Chris Knott. The Chris Knott policy offered a mirrored NCB for the years I had with direct line which brought my premium right down.
Who knows? It's insurance, they pretty much make it up.

This is a con. I had to do the same when I bought a crap car to leave down south. While you can't allpy your NCD to a second car, you can bet your life that any accident you have in the second car will then effect you NCD! Robbing

- Say you have been paying another trader to collect or demo cars but now you want this to change
- They will ask what sort of cars you buy - say family saloons/ small city cars ...
- They will want details of any existing cars give them yours and any other cars in the household
- Type of cover ..fire and theft is best option they will ask for a max cash limit of payout in such an event.... think it starts at £5000
- Put anyone you want on the policy have them down as business partners not employees this way they also earn no claims bonus -
- Type of cover you need motor trade / social domestic / commuting to work covers the lot that way
...allegedly

Insurers are clamping down on this by asking for a copy of sales records for the past 12 months
