Been with TT for 4 years now, other than the BT exchange being trashed and a weather related problem with fibre, I've no complaints, particularly at the price.

    Customer support is iffy though.

+2 for Zen Internet - Bit pricey at £98 per month, but genuinely unlimited downloads. I average at least a couple of hundred Gbytes per month

I've had problems with both BT and Virgin.

Currently using Virgin and Three Mobile as a backup. It's the only way to get trouble free connectivity.

Toying with the idea of a 3G failover router...

I use Virgin and rarely have problems, the last one being some local oik ripped open the cable box in the street but apart from that no dropped connections

they are, however companies like Zen have the ability to ignore first line support and go direct to people who can find their own body parts. They also actively manage issues and escalate through official channels.

I've been with Zen for ages, very rare to have an outage, only one I can recall was after the adsl2+ upgrade.

With luck Ethernet will become more prevalent and cheaper.

We live rurally, very remote too, and apart from one outage for 13 days, we get one or 2 dropped conns a day. I just go and make a cup of tea, for I've worked out for the amount of hassle and stress speaking with Bobs all day, who do not understand the issues, would never be able to resolve them anyway, and who are downright rude anyway, isn't worth it. Have a cup of tea, read the newspaper, let it reconnect. The beauty of working from home, is you can work when you want.

I've tried Talk Talk. I'd venture it's more fun performing your own vasectomy. All of the others aren't in my area.

Also, I bet you any money Field Marshall Prince George still doesn't have his sword back, after some nutter climbed his statue in Whitehall last year. Pretty trivial in the grand scheme of things, granted, but telling all the same.

Taken 2 mornings off work to wait for an engineer who didn't show on either occassion and then I get a text telling me the fault is fixed. Ring them again and they say there was no need for an engineer to visit my house as the fault is outside and they're waiting for a hoist. Then another text to tell me It's fixed. Still no internet. Now they're trying to blame my kit.

This is a business account ffs. I'm tied into a contract but I must be justified in cancelling my direct debit and telling them where to stick it.

Tempted to look into satellite broadband - probably won't be able to expense it as it would be tied into a sky package but wtf.
Useless! Bring back the GPO I say - At least they could install a reliable phone (after a month or two)
