    Thanks darm!

I'm still a novice on the Ninja but stories like that keep me (hopefully) on the right side of the envelope, although thanks to the bicycling in rush-hour, it's the traffic awareness side that has been the most useful.

Just got the quote in for the bicycle repairs: £300!!!!!!

That'll teach me to learn more about the coefficient of friction!

A variation on that happened to a mate. He didn't forget but couldn't get his feet to disengage from the pedals.

He went back to traditional pedals after that occurrence.

You could be right - I'll pass that one through GF#1 just to check!

All was OK a few days ago until my gear selector came off yesterday in my hand on the bicycle at the weekend due to earlier damage.

It's now in for a major service and repair - didn't notice the total damage to the bike - gear selector lever snapped off, dangly bit on the gear cogs selector dented and bent (missing gears), right pedal and toe clips damaged, brake lever bent, ... and shirt I was wearing is torn.

Still, at least GF#1 cooked a cook chilli yesterday and offered copious amount of Oyster Bay - temporary relief!

Oh and the Ninja battery is kaput, £52 (+£9 for delivery) for a new one!

I go to Soho to get my Thai and Chinese spices, as well as Indian. Much better value than supermarkets but as you said to me in a previous conversation, spices go off so you need to use them. At the moment I'm not cooking the volumes so some is wasted. At least though when I do a recipe, I don't have to shop as I have everything, including rarities such as galangal (fresh and frozen)!
It's trying to find a shop that delivers to cloggers. I can get loads of Indonesian and Thai ingredients fresh which is brilliant, but some of the spices are packaged badly. so while you can get them they are a tad naff.

Might see if there's an Indian supermarket here somewhere, am kicking myself that I didn't avail of the Indian supermarket down the road from where I was staying in blighty.

I used to work as a bartender in a pub in Cornwall as a student summer job. Home was a couple of miles down pitch-black, deserted country lanes... high Cornish hedges, etc. You were allowed to drink while working and that's possibly what inspired me one night to see how far I could cycle down a straight bit of road with my eyes shut, to test my ability to stay in a straight line.

A brambly stone hedge is not a nice thing to cycle into, though the scratches distracted me from the fact I rammed my groin into the handlebars...

Thanks mate - winner could be GF#1 as she ran a restaurant, loves food and is an all round lovely person and fun to be with, which is a marked contrast with the ex, whom I consider a close relative to Darth Vader.

GF#2 is still on the scene - she's as mad as a hatter, great fun and loves food, cycling, walking, art and all things Spanish.

Herein lies my problem of choice, so, I'm just enjoying the journey until its natural conclusion, whatever path that might be!

    Espresso Martini time! Woohoooo!

    S'amusant tout le monde!

Apart from a collision with a car, it was my first off ever in 4 years, and I've been doing about 8,000 miles/year.

Was quite a shock, although the initial pain was minimal, but you are right Lockhouse, today is hurting, despite the copious amounts of Sauv Blanc!

Still blaming the motorbike though - never thought a bike could lean more with grip than a bicycle...! But I am a sports motorbike novice... wake up call #1!
