The cert etc is irrelevant, it was just way of learning the basics of a related technology (reelevant buzz words, syntax etc). It would not get me a job or anything, it just meant I knew a little more than the other guys on the team so I was the front runner to take the task up.

So I used PluralSight to go through some courses in Javascript and HTML5 so I knew enough to be able to do it.
Made sense to me at the time and it still does.
As for being a sockie, no. Although I am not sure how I would prove that so you will have to take my word for it.
