Manager here at client is Romanian.
Lovely fella but mad as a box of frogs. I get the feeling they shipped him over here though because they wouldn't have to pay him as much, and they can screw him into working his nuts off. Silly sod is regularly here till 9pm every night and I regularly get emails sent by him at 3am.
His driving is a sight to see. Only been here 6 months and got done twice for speeding already. Had the misfortune to travel back from Birmingham with him the other day. Made the 90 mile trip in under an hour (and we stopped for McD in services on the way!) Never again.
Did'nt seem to understand that mewling through roadworks on the M50 at 80mph when the limit is 40mphis not a good idea even if you can't see any speed cameras. Pointed that if they did catch him doing that he'd be in big trouble! Not bothered though it seems.

It doesn't matter if they don't have a roof over their heads provided they have a good hairstyle.
When a boy turns 18 he HAS to have a car, and it can't be any old car but the biggest and most expensive he can get his hands on, even if he can't afford the petrol to put in it.
Stupid Romanians...

Romanians do, on the whole, care about looking their best. Appearances are important to them. As are good manners, hard work, and honesty to all the ones I've met
I think that if some of us had grown up in a country under communism where you could buy bread in quarter-loaves and had to queue for that, where girls died from back-street abortions, and enemies of the state vanished without a trace, rather than a country where we earn well as contractors and buy a plasma tv or a new car to cheer ourselves up we might have simpler values which could be reflected in a new hairstyle (in fact, think 70s Britain...).

Romania is a very beatiful country with sandy beaches on the black sea, a rich history, and skiing in the Carpathinan mountains. Seriously thinking of investing in property there, the post-communist crooks are running (ruining) the show now, but in a few years you'll be going there for your holidays...

It is a given that, if the Roma were a successful people, they would not commit these crimes but the more relevant fact is that, as they are not Italians, it is not the duty of Italians to solve their problems.

I do wonder why more people do not live with realities. Like this quote in that BBC link:
"The right wing says that Romany Gypsies are just people that exploit their children and women for stealing for begging and maybe there is a bit of a truth in this," says Donatella DeVito, who works for a charity that tries to help integrate the Roma into Italian society.
"But the real problem is that some of the Roma actually beg and steal because that's the only chance that they have for surviving."

The Roma should be forcibly escorted out the country as soon as possible.

I wasn't getting at you, just my sarcastic philosophy. No personal experience of the Roma but I doubt that the negative things we read are all that innacurate, particularly when much of it comes from reputable sources all over Europe.
In reality, very few "predudices" are totally without foundation.
PS The BBC for example:

Believe me I get on with anyone, but I would like to be treated the way I would treat them, not have stuff stolen from my garden, builders vans broken into while they are working in my house and fly tipping around the area.
The French had it right.

Sadly the majority of Romanians that I come into contact with are Roma gypsies
