I have been in London for over 5 years now and although I love the city I don't think that I want to live here for another 5 years and have been exploring my options on going abroad. One of the big reasons for going abroad is that you can jump up into more senior positions more easily so I look it as much as part of my business plan (although you may have to slip back to being a permie until you get yourself established) as my personal plan.

Yes and Stewart Lee is right, the prawns (Shrimp) do tend to be larger. Although the larger ones take less effort to eat though so there is an advantage there

It's not only the UK that has these issues. Over here in NZ, as fast as they can import new people from India, China and the UK, their own are leaving for Australia.

How long have you been there? We "emigrated" over here from NZ about 12 years ago. For the longest time I wanted to go back just about every day. But after a few recent visits, the 'novelty' of living in NZ wears off. It's a great country but now seems too "small" for us (yeah yeah yeah nah).

I did, I planned on going to Canada after living overseas in various places over a 5 year period.

Problem was, by the time I got geared up to do it the NOC list changed (entry requirement for skilled visas) and I got locked out, unless I change career.

My advice to anyone considering it , is to get on with it

Also, you don't need to revoke British citizenship or anything, you can go dual nationality.

I noticed that too

Pressure of circumstances led me to watch the age deadline for Australia (45) and then New Zealand (55) pass me by. Still Canada was always possible, and with my fluent French I could even scrape enough points without a job offer.

Then they changed the NOC and Canada went off the picture too...
