I bet it was for gross misconduct. And the police were involved.
I shall keep an eye on the Guildford papers for the full SP.

I was on garden leave from my permie job last year (defence industry). Sound I thought, 4 months leave, full pay then decent redundancy payment.
Only problem was ****ers invoked an agreement that I had to come in for 2 weeks to handover. Fair enough I said. Then they said it was up to PM if this went further than 2 weeks.
Of course, PM did his best to screw most he could and delay my leaving as long as possible for 'business reasons'. In the end, I went there for 6 weeks until I eventually kicked off with HR.
Still had some decent time though. Good news is started a contract about 2 weeks after my official leaving date!!!
