I was staying in a lovely beach resort in Kerala. A few stray dogs were seen going towards the guests 'cabanas' in the evenings, and in bed, we'd hear occassional gun shots. One day, searching for a smelly trainer I'd been forced to leave outside, I came across a pile of the dead dogs. The results of the previous nights shots. I was informed one of them had my trainer, and it was returned to me.

I think the dog needed a medal, not a gun shot. Bravery indeed to put those things in its mouth....

Rabies is eradicated in UK so why would anybody bother treating for it. The stupid granny should have told them that it was in India. The article makes it out that it is the fault of the NHS. What was she upto with a dog anyway ?

Also, I think the big fat injections have been replaced by oral medicines now, I think. So its not all that bad.

    Stupid, stupid people everwhere.

It's hardly the NHS' fault now is it? Did she tell the doctor that she'd been bitten?
My thoughts exactly. You get bitten by an animal in a country that isn't rabies free, you seek treatment.

    Stupidity is often fatal.

No. EO wasn't involved at all.

Large, angry dogs frothing at the mouth get to me. Hate seeing stray dogs when abroad.
