    If you want to invest in shares it's best to put together a portfolio rather than responding to a single newspaper report. If you subscribe to an investor rag they'll have loads of recommendations, then you pick 3 or 4 and invest.

    Apple will probably go up in the longterm but then there maybe some other better opportunities. It may also crash, or go nowhere. If you invest in 3 or 4 shares probably one of them will do well, one will do badly, one will be lack lustre and one will be OK.

    If rumours of an imminent new iPhone are to believed, it may be worth a short term dabble to take advantage of a rise based upon the hype.

    I would say it's too late. A lot of hedge funds will now look to Short Sell Apple in order to make a few quick quids.
