6 weeks into a 6 month contract. I had about a month "resting" (actually working on my own stuff) before that.

About to start my fourth 3 month contract with my current client. It's been pretty good work thus far, and I've been pleased to achieve something, but now they want me to merge code from one product to another and then create a common source. Oh Lord. I do wonder if it's time to scarper.

I've had 1 week 'resting' in about 8 years. More by luck than design though.

For the past two weeks whilst on vacation I did in fact achieve the tranquility which you describe above Threaded, it was refelcted upon my I Ching reading which was the Pentagram named Tai, or Peace.

To be aware of. then transcend the duality of life ,then there is supreme peace.

Even upon my return to the office today, it was the least busy for over a year, so Peace be amongst you all.

There is nothing greater than Peace of Mind.

I'm out and have just had a lovely agent call me. He assured me that, although the contract I applied for has gone, he will be working very hard to find me a really good contract. Apparently my skillset is in great demand. All he needs are 3 recent references.......

He works for a very "forward looking" company.

I very much doubt it. We don't use tapes for backup!

Contract that was meant to be for a few months, but ended up being nearly 3 years, expires next month. The client's HR dept is refusing another renewal even though the management want me to continue. Can't be bothered to fight it so am going to take 2 months off and do very little. I do intend to be sober for sections of it, though.
