On a call recently where a senior VP asked everyone on the phone whether he should fire a colleague!!
Two contractors and about six permies. The permies said nothing while the us two contractors both said the same thing. 'Let's make sure we've met all our milestones and processes before looking to fire someone else for not doing so'. The VP agreed. The guy still has a job. Unreal.

Love being a contractor...
So i'm on a pre-sales call, v senior cast + v many on call, that when won will be mine to deliver. the initial submission was laughed at, and now we're reshaping.
my relationship manager is on the call to and we're also chatting on IM
ME: with the cost reduction, Im not going to be able to deliver this
RM: correct, its going to go belly up
ME: I'm a contractor, I'll make it work
RM: you'll get blamed, this is why we have contractors
ME: no worries, at least I know
RM: yeah, you're strong enough. you'll still have a role when this fails. The Sales guy wont...
two minutes later, head of sales states:
HS: Sales rep, who approved you to submit this?
SR: everyone!
HS: have you got email proof?
SR: yes, but I'd have to trawl through all my emails and i dont think thats appropriate.
HS (shouting): well I suggest you f**king try, you're already fired btw, I want others to join you...
Silence...
IM fires up:
RM: Soooooo... I have 2 other projects, shall we look at them in the morning?
