Got my mum a bunch of flowers. Kids came over and cooked their mum (and me) dinner. Good day.

I have lived the last 15 years on the edge - I am sick of it.Originally posted by Old Greg View PostBeing on the edge beats the alternatives.
The card I got my mother had a picture of a mum with clothes in a washing basket. Caption said "Mum got presented with clothes on Mothers Day"

Being on the edge beats the alternatives.Originally posted by BrilloPad View PostMrs BP took her mother out on Friday - I paid and babysat. That was her present.
She gor hand made kids from the kids -plus a commercial card with a picture of a baby with a thought bubble with the caption "hmmm - mum looks a bit stressed - what can I do to push her over the edge?". Those with children will know this is not funny and is the reality.

Don't think it has to be commercial if by commercial you mean spending money. Most mums are delighted with a home made card, or having dinner cooked for them. Just a little gesture to make your mum/wife feel appreciated.Originally posted by TimberWolf View PostIs Mother's day getting a bit commercialised? The International Rescue Committee's From Harm to Home program offers a way to donate much-needed goods and services to mothers across the globe. Choose a lifesaving gift from their website—like the Safe Birthing Kit ($24) or Farming Tools ($60)—and dedicate it to your mom, or any other special woman in your life. Harm to Home will even send a Mother's Day card with information about the dedication on your behalf. Bonus: Your gift amount will be matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000 to support the IRC's maternal health programs in Sierra Leone.

The haul:
tulips (the floral variety - although I did smirk)
selection of real ale
choccies
kindle book (The Lady in the Van - recommended by someone here - sorry, can't remember who!)
Cooked Sunday dinner for family and my mum. Enjoyed a glass or 3 of wine.
All in all, a good day.
